Just short of a five.

Needs more cowbell.

LunacyEcho responds:

I'll take that advice to heart.

Very chill piece, I dig it! Only have a little input;

I feel like the song sounds great, but I also feel like the strings could be a little more prominent in this piece. You might have been going for the quietness in the strings, however, so this is just my opinion!

Also, I feel as though the kick, (although most people will never hear me say this,) may have a bit too much oomph for this kind of track! The bass on the kick could be knocked down ever so slightly to allow the rest of this track to push through a little more.

Good sound, though! Very good track!

I tried to fix the kick, beacause i also tought its was too much, but i dont no how to do that! So, i left it like that.

Thanks for the review!

Solid three stars, which is not bad! The song is not badly made at all, but there are a few things you could do to improve;

One major thing is that sub bass. I cannot stress enough how much a good sub bass rustles my jimmies. I'm not sure if you are using a soundpack sub or not, but you should really get a little more variety in the sound of it, a sub bass can make or break modern hip-hop. Definitely fluctuate the pitch around a bit, maybe take out some of the decay for a longer, heavier hitting bass.

Another thing is the hi-hats; I feel like a little playing around with the speed of the hi-hats hitting could get the song bumping a little harder. If you play around with variety in your drums for a song like this, you'll get the room bouncing that much more!

Some EQ's on the drums would definitely help out, as well. Right now, the piece sounds more ambient than it does like a hip-hop track. If you get a more prominent drum sound, you could easily screw around with the rest of the track to get it pumping out a beat that a man can't help but spit rhymes to.

Sounds like a good track, keep on working at it, and make sure to think: would I rap to this ~~

I really appreciate this comment thanks this has been one of the most helpful ones ive gotten! Ima keep this in mind and im glad you liked it too. It means alot!

Cool track; very chill, and hits the ears well. I dig the very hip-hop sounding kick\hat\snare that you chose for this, it fits the ambiance really well. It's hard to put any specific input in place for an ambient track, like this, but here goes:

Even though the track is ambient, and is not meant to rile the listener up, I feel like it could use a slight amount of variety, such as a more prominent piano piece. I'm not thinking anything that would completely change the feel for the track, but maybe a few more keys here and there, to keep us diggin' the track, but to get those little unexpected bits of music that keep us waiting to hear what happens next.

Not sure if what I typed even made much sense, but that's all I have to say when it comes to input! Good sounding, chill track all around.

Hey, thanks for the input man. I appreciate constructive criticism in a sincere manner.

I understand what you mean, and if I decide to revisit this track in the future, I will definitely do that!

Thanks for listening!

Decent track, all in all! Not too shabby. I feel as though, if you played with some more EQ's, such as Parametric2, you might be able to get a better feel for each individual sound. Make sure to cut off unneeded frequencies, such as the super low tones in a high pitched synth.

All sound, inherently, contains some level of bass, unless it is cut off through a frequency modulator. Say we're using Paramteric2, (my favorite plugin, that also comes free with FL Studio, assuming you use FL Studio) and we want to make a really crisp, nice sounding kick drum. You could increase sound quality by massive amounts, just by slicing off the impossibly low ends of the kick, and the super high ends, by moving the mods around.

If you ever need any tips or anything, let me know! You might have known everything I already said, but I just figured I would put in my tid bit of advice. Good sounding song, altogether! Keep at it ~

Thanks for the great review! I made this a while back, before I really started getting into mixing and mastering things a lot. But thanks nonetheless. I may try that trick with the kick however, I never thought of it that way!

I'll keep you in mind!

Fantastic sounds, man. I really dig the sharpness of those snare hits, can make or break a track like this! All around, a solid track!

When it comes to input, I might say that the sounds need to have some of the unneeded frequencies chopped from it, such as a higher pitched synth having a little bit too much bass added to it. A little more playing with an EQ such as Parametric2 can really help that out.

Another insight, I feel like there is just a tad bit too much reverb on some of the sounds. It's hard to say exactly how much could be chopped off, because the song itself sounds freakin' awesome as is. Good work with this!

SoundHawk responds:

You could be right about that, I did put a lot of work into adjusting the EQ levels, but it always seems lke more can be done. I can see where you're coming from with the reverb, I'll keep it in mind for the future. Glad you enjoyed it though, Thanks for all the comments!

Digging this sound a lot! It's pretty crisp, I definitely like the bump of the drums. The synths post-drop could be a bit more prominent, in my opinion, but it still sounded great!

-Funk

SP34K3RM4N responds:

Well sure this is pretty crisp and the reason why the synth's post-drop isn't prominent because it's a preview.
But anyway thanks for reviewing.
